GRAND BOULEVARDS
Victory Avenue [Romanian: Calea Victoriei] is a major avenue in central Bucharest. It leads from Splaiul Independenței (which runs parallel to the Dâmboviţa River) to the north and then northwest up to Piaţa Victoriei, where Șoseaua Kiseleff continues north.
Gh.Magheru Blvd is a boulevard in central Bucharest, located between Romană Square and N.Bălcescu Blvd, which leads to the University Square. It is named after General Gh.Magheru, a Romanian revolutionary and soldier from Wallachia.
Three major boulevards intersect in Piața Romană:
(1) Lascăr Catargiu Blvd (which runs northwest towards Piaţa Victoriei);
(2) Gh.Magheru Blvd (which runs south by southeast towards University Square);
(3) Dacia Blvd (which runs roughly east-west through the square).
